Oh..... I never knew that walnuts came outta of a pod thing. I thought they grew on the tree with the hard shells!

Hope you and boys get well soon. No one is allergic to nuts? Cool!

You can replace walnuts for pecans in a typical pecan pie recipe... delicious =) Also, you can always use walnuts in banana bread, choc. chip cookies, brownies, etc. etc. Check out for cool recipes also =)

good ole cashew walnut spread - weimar style! mom actually has a good recipe for it.

so fun to hear your latest {nature} adventures! :) your photos are stunning, btw. you should write some children's books (about orchard life, of course) and illustrate them with your awesome photos! in your spare time! ;)

Those are such great photos - I concur, you definitely need to invest in a nutcracker - Matthew has some work cut out for him!

De-lurking here! With this recipe:

BTW, I also have snakes and woodpeckers attacking! And I don't even live in the country!

thanks for the cool photos. i think it's amazing to have something interesting growing in your own "backyard".

  • "I was kicking and screaming and yelling...because I missed you."
Hoonie explaining one of his tantrums at daycare. Really, though, how could you be upset with him...especially after that last part? :)
  • "Because I tried to eat brother?"
Hoonie's response when I asked him why he got in trouble. He actually bit him, haha!
  • "I need to get some more money for my collection."
Me too, Matthew, me too! :)
  • "I don't have my eyes!"
What Hoonie meant to say was that it was so dark he couldn't see.
  • "I'm gonna go outside to split some wood...with my shirt off."
    Um, yeah...whatever Jack! :P
  • "I prefer genius."
Matthew's response to me when I referred to him as a Star Wars "nerd".
